September 2026 Fishing Reports

September is always produces a variety of good fly fishing action! We’ve got some great reports to share; pictures are first with the reports below.

From George Krumm: Togiak coho Flyfishing was great!

From Chris Brehm: Made a 5 day trip to Cedros Island Mexico catching Yellowtail and Dorado.

From Rich Harvey: Fished Rock Creek in early September. Got 14 like this one pictured swinging a black soft hackle, then learned that 20” class browns can’t be landed on a 3 weight with 6x tippet…lost 2 like that.

From Ken Kelley: Had a fun day chasing Bluegill on Schmedeke Pond; got 7 on a foam beetle. Later targeted Sea Run Cutts on the Salmon River at Otis. Ran into Rich there by coincidence. Not many fish but had a great time on the water.

From Tom Phipps: Had success on Drano Lake in late September with my friend Peter from Eugene.

From Matt Baker: After the Metolius Fish-A-Long we hit Santiam on the way home and did well. Later in the month fished a handful of coastal streams and found nice fish with a good number of cutthroat.

From Dave Kilhefner: had some really good days floating both the Kootenai and St Joe Rivers for trout and whitefish. Nymphs and small terrestrial dries produced.

Thanks to everyone for contributing reports!
