August 2026 Fishing Reports

This August produced some good and varied fishing so we’ve got lots of good reports! The photos are first with the report below.

From Joe Warren: Caught my biggest lingcod on the fly! It was a heck of a fight. Fly fishing has been outstanding and we’ve had excellent marine conditions.

From Mike Shiiki: My son and nephew joined me at Diamond Lake. Nathan landed his first tiger trout and says there are really big fish in that lake as advertised. Nathan had a good day, Elliot caught a huge brown and I landed a tiger trout.

From Darryl Huff: Got three wild steelhead on gear the Wednesday before the Deschutes closure. So bummed that it’s going to be the last trip!

From Chris Brehm: Had a smoky trip to Agency Lake & Diamond Lake with Chris G. Also had some good action on Beetles at Diamond & Paulina Lakes.

From Rich Harvey & Lake Hoffman: Caught fish on the Big Hole with small dry midge patterns, soft hackles, and the big hole demon.

From Mark Rasmussen: Fishing the Muck Hole on the Henry’s Fork one evening after a big thunderstorm; not much action but an exceptional sunset! Watching my drift and suddenly a bull moose comes out of the willows and wades right through my hole!

From Patrick Leonard: Floated the McKenzie with Craig; caught lot’s of fish on dries. Also fished for Searuns on the coast and did ok.  Fished the North Santiam and Breitenbush Rivers, lots of fish at both places.

It was a good fly fishing month. Thanks to everyone for your reports!
